Raw Cane Sugar

Raw cane sugar or Turbinado sugar is partially refined sugar that retains some of the original molasses, giving it a subtle caramel flavor.

It’s made form sugarcane – a non-genetically modified crop. Some of which is organically grown.

This includes pressing juice from the sugarcane, which is boiled in large steam evaporators to from crystals and spun is a turbine to remove liquid molasses. Turbinado sugar is a natural brown sugar that is made by pressing sugar cane to extract the Juice. The resulting sugar cane juice are allowed to evaporate, leaving behind large light brown sugar crystals.

How to Use Sugar:

You can use cane sugar for general sweetening purposes, but it is an especially useful topping for foods, as the large crystals hold up well under heat.

Cane sugar works well to:

  1. Sweeten coffee, tea, or other hot beverages.
  2. Make a natural body scrub or face exfoliant.
  3. Top hot cereals, such as oatmeal and cream of wheat.
  4. Sprinkle on whole-grain muffins, scones, and quick bread.
  5. Mix in a dry spice rub for smoking or grilling meat or poultry.
  6. Sprinkle on baked sweet potatoes or roasted carrots and beets.
  7. Make candied nuts, such as pecans and almonds.
